The nerdy stuff · TLDR

TLDR: We collect your name and email when you ask for something, plus basic information about which ad or link brought you here. We never connect to your bank. We never see the numbers you put in the Prosperity Playbook — that file lives on your computer or in your own Google account. We do not sell your data to anyone, ever. Email az@azdoestaxes.com and we will delete everything we hold about you.

1. Who we are

This site is operated by AZ Does Taxes ("we", "us"). We provide tax preparation services and financial education. If you have any question about this policy, email az@azdoestaxes.com.

This policy covers this website only. It does not cover our tax preparation engagements, which are governed by the separate engagement letter you sign as a client.

2. What we collect

Information you give us

When you fill in a form on this site, we collect:

  • Your first name (optional — the form works without it)
  • Your email address (required, so we can send you what you asked for)
  • The situation you select from the dropdown, such as "Freelancer / consultant" or "RSUs at a public company" (optional)

That is the entire list. We do not ask for your phone number, mailing address, income, account balances, Social Security number, or any financial account information anywhere on this website.

Information collected automatically

When you land on a page, our code records:

WhatExampleWhy
Campaign tags in the URLutm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, utm_termTo know which ad or post brought you here
Ad click identifiersgclid (Google), fbclid (Meta)To measure whether an ad worked

Page and timestampWhich page you landed on, and whenSame reason
Page version shownself-employed or equityWe run two versions of this page and need to know which one you saw
CountryDerived from your IP address by our hostRough geography only. We do not store your full IP address in our records

Our hosting provider also keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, as part of operating and protecting the service.

What we do not do

  • We do not connect to your bank, your brokerage, or any financial account.
  • We do not use session recording, heatmaps, or screen capture.
  • We do not buy personal information about you from data brokers.
  • We do not sell or rent your personal information. We have never done so.

3. The Prosperity Playbook

This matters enough to say on its own. The Prosperity Playbook is a spreadsheet, not an app. You save your own copy and paste your own transactions into it.

The financial information you enter never reaches us. There is no account, no sync, and no upload. The file lives in your Excel installation or in your own Google Drive. We cannot see your net worth, your transactions, your balances, or your debts unless you separately choose to share them with us — for example, if you become a one-to-one client and send them to us deliberately.

4. Why we collect it

  • To deliver what you asked for — sending you the Playbook, your class registration, or other resources.
  • To send you our email newsletter, which you can leave at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email.
  • To understand what is working — which page version, ad, or channel actually helps people, so we stop spending on the ones that do not.
  • To run and protect the site, including preventing spam and abuse.

If you are in a jurisdiction that requires a legal basis for processing, ours is your consent (for marketing email) and our legitimate interest in operating and improving the site (for the automatic information above).

5. Who we share it with

We share your information only with service providers who help us run the business, and only to the extent they need it:

ProviderWhat they handle
VercelHosts this website and processes form submissions. Receives your IP address as part of normal hosting.
Google FontsServes the typefaces this page uses. Google receives your IP address when your browser requests a font file.
Our email platformStores your name and email and sends you email. Not yet connected at the time of this update; when it is, this entry will name the provider.
Analytics and advertising platformsNot currently active on this site. If we add Google Analytics or a Meta pixel, we will update this policy before turning them on.

We may also disclose information if we are legally required to, or to protect our rights or the safety of others. If the business is ever sold or merged, your information may transfer as part of that transaction, and this policy will continue to apply until you are given notice of a new one.

6. Browser storage

This site does not currently set advertising or tracking cookies. It uses your browser's local storage for two small items:

  • pf_variant — which version of the landing page you were shown, so you see the same one if you come back.
  • pf_attr — the campaign tags and referrer from your first visit.

Both stay in your own browser. You can clear them any time through your browser settings, and nothing on the site breaks if you do. If we later add analytics or advertising tools that use cookies, we will update this section and add a consent banner where required.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your email address for as long as you are subscribed, and for a reasonable period afterward to honor your unsubscribe request. Server and function logs are retained on a short rolling basis by our hosting provider. If you ask us to delete your information, we do so promptly except where we are required to keep records by law.

8. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal information we hold about you
  • Correct it if it is wrong
  • Delete it
  • Stop sending you marketing email (or just click unsubscribe — it works immediately)

Email az@azdoestaxes.com and we will action it. We will not charge you, and we will not treat you differently for asking.

California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined, so there is nothing to opt out of — but the rights above are yours regardless, and you may use an authorized agent to exercise them.

If you are in the EEA or UK, you additionally have the right to object to processing, to request portability of your data, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

9. Security

The site is served over HTTPS and form submissions are encrypted in transit. We keep the amount of personal information we hold deliberately small, which is the most effective security measure available to a business of our size. That said, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children

This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. If the change is significant — for example, adding advertising trackers or a new category of data — we will say so by email to subscribers before it takes effect.
