For freelancers, contractors & solo business owners

You're good at making money. Nobody taught you where it goes.

Every employee gets a system handed to them: withholding, an auto-enrolled 401(k), a match. You get the same tax code and none of the defaults, plus an irregular deposit schedule and a quiet suspicion that you're doing this wrong. You're not bad with money. You've never had the whole picture in front of you.

Sound familiar?

The self-employed money problem nobody warns you about

  • A great month lands and you genuinely don't know how much of it is yours.
  • Quarterly taxes show up and quietly eat the savings you just built.
  • Nobody auto-deducts your retirement, so it only happens when you remember.
  • You've got a SEP or a Solo 401(k) in the back of your mind and nothing in it.
  • You look at your bank balance to decide if you can afford something.
  • Slow month hits and you start eyeing something risky to catch up fast.
  • Money is spread over six accounts, two cards and a business checking.
  • Underneath it all: a low hum of I think I'm behind.
The nerdy stuff · TLDR

TLDR: W-2 employees get a system handed to them — withholding, auto-enrolled 401(k), matched contributions, a benefits portal. The default settings do the saving for them. Self-employed people get the same tax code and none of the defaults. Every single move has to be made on purpose. That's the whole gap. It is not a discipline problem.

The actual diagnosis

Most money mistakes aren't math mistakes. They're visibility mistakes.

People buy the car, book the trip, or skip the retirement contribution without ever seeing their whole picture at once. Then the anxiety of "am I behind?" pushes them toward the fast fix — the hot stock, the coin, the parlay, the course that promises 10x.

The fast fix is the expensive one. Boring and early beats brilliant and late, every time. But you can't be methodical about a picture you've never actually looked at.

The method

See it. Seal it. Send it.

Three steps, in this order. Most people try to skip to step three, buy an index fund with whatever's left over at the end of the month, and wonder why nothing compounds.

1

See it

Everything you own, everything you owe, what actually came in and what actually went out — on one screen. This is a personal financial statement, the same thing a lender or an investor would build about you. Most people have never seen their own.

2

Seal it

Now the leaks are obvious: the duplicate subscriptions, the $340 of "small" food delivery, the insurance you've outgrown, the interest on a card you could've killed last year. Cut the fat you won't miss — not the stuff that makes life good.

3

Send it

Route the recovered money automatically — tax reserve first, then emergency fund, then the retirement account you've been meaning to open — on the day money lands, not whatever's left at month end. Then stop touching it.

Step one, free

The Prosperity Playbook

A spreadsheet, not an app. You download three months of transactions from your bank, paste three columns, and it sorts the rest. No bank login, no subscription, no startup quietly selling your spending data.

  • Mission Control — net worth, monthly cash flow, and how your spending actually splits vs. where it should.
  • Transactions — paste and auto-categorize; fix the few it guesses wrong.
  • My Plan vs. Reality — what you intended each month next to what truly happened. The gap is the whole lesson.
  • Assets — every account projected forward to your target retirement date.
  • Liabilities — every debt ranked by interest rate, with your real debt-free date and lifetime interest.

Step two, also free

The Three Leaks: a 60-minute masterclass

Live, jargon-free, and specifically for people with irregular income. We walk through the three places self-employed money disappears, what to do about each one this week, and the full menu of investment vehicles available to you — so the "shiny object" stuff stops looking like your only option.

LEAK 01

The tax leak — the money that was never yours, spent anyway.

LEAK 02

The lifestyle leak — the slow ratchet that eats every raise you give yourself.

LEAK 03

The idle leak — cash sitting still while inflation does its thing.

What's inside

Eight weeks, in order

Wk 01

Build your personal financial statement

Everything you own and owe on one screen. Your real starting line, no judgment attached.

Wk 02

Find the leaks

Three months of transactions, sorted. We name every leak in dollars per year, not per latte.

Wk 03

Pay yourself a real salary

Turning lumpy deposits into a predictable paycheck — the single biggest change most people make.

Wk 04

The tax reserve that never fails

What percentage, which account, which day. Quarterlies stop being an ambush.

Wk 05

Kill debt in the right order

Interest rate first, ranked. Your actual debt-free date, and what each extra $100 buys you.

Wk 06

Every vehicle available to you

Solo 401(k), SEP, SIMPLE, traditional and Roth IRA, HSA, brokerage, I-bonds. What each is for and in what order to fill them.

Wk 07

Automate the whole thing

The transfer rules that move money the day it lands. Build it once; it runs without you.

Wk 08

Shiny-object defense

A written rule for what you will and won't put money into — decided calmly now, so a bad month can't decide it for you.

This is for you if

  • Some or all of your income is 1099, invoiced, or unpredictable.
  • You earn fine but can't say what you're worth or where it went.
  • You want boring, repeatable, and automatic.
  • You're willing to look at three months of your own transactions.

This is not for you if

  • You want stock picks, options plays, or a crypto thesis.
  • You're looking to double your money this quarter.
  • You want someone to manage your portfolio for you.
  • You're in active financial crisis — you need a credit counselor first, and that's okay.

Who's teaching this

Hi, I'm AZ.

[Your bio goes here: credential, years in practice, how many returns/clients, and the moment you realized the problem wasn't tax knowledge — it was that nobody could see their own money.]

I've spent my career inside other people's finances. The pattern is always the same: smart, capable, hard-working people making avoidable decisions because nobody ever showed them the whole picture. Then the anxiety of being behind pushes them toward something risky to catch up fast. I'd rather get to you before that.

Questions

Before you ask

Is this financial advice?

No. This is education and a system for seeing your own numbers. I'm a tax professional, not a licensed investment adviser — I'll teach you what the vehicles are and how they work, and I won't tell you what to buy. Decisions stay yours, and for anything complex you should talk to a fiduciary adviser.

My income is all over the place. Does this still work?

That's the entire reason it exists. Budgeting advice written for a steady paycheck falls apart on irregular income. Week 3 is specifically about turning lumpy deposits into a predictable salary you pay yourself.

Do I have to connect my bank account?

No. You download a CSV from your bank and paste three columns. Nothing connects to anything, and nobody sees your data but you.

I'm already behind. Is it too late?

Late is better than never by an enormous margin, and the math is less grim than the feeling. The first thing we do is replace the vague dread with an actual number — which is almost always less scary than what you'd been imagining.

How much time per week?

About 25 minutes to set up the Playbook, then 60–90 minutes a week during the program. After it's built, maintaining it is roughly 15 minutes a month.

What if it's not for me?

[Your refund policy — e.g. full refund within 14 days, no questions.]

Start by looking at it once.

Twenty-five minutes with the free Playbook and you'll know your net worth, your real monthly cash flow, and the three biggest leaks. Whatever you do next, do it with the picture in front of you.
